FORMER BRAZOS COUNTY RESIDENT COMES TO TEXAS TO OPEN
COUNTY’S FIRST VACATION RENTAL, FIVE MINUTE WALK FROM KYLE
FIELD ( Press Release )
College Station,
Texas – “Vacation Rentals are a new phenomenon” says Victoria Martinez
Nichols, President and Founder of
Casita de Cruzita. “Most
vacationers have experimented and enjoyed Bed and Breakfasts, but few have
tried vacation rentals,” says Victoria “the main difference is that families
get the entire house, free of an inn keeper.” As the old saying goes in real
estate “location, location, location, ”Casita de Cruzita
is located
approximately five minutes (walk) from Kyle Field, nearer to the Former
Student Association building, and 1 mile drive to George Bush Presidential Library
and Museum. Victoria inherited her family home of fifty
years, from her deceased mother Mrs. Cruz Alonzo Martinez, the namesake for
the property and matriarch of the Martinez family. “Our family was among
the first Hispanic settlers in College Station,” says Victoria. Mrs. Cruz
Martinez was recognized by The Eagle as Mother of the Year in 1978. Her
story was compelling in that she raised 16 of her own children and several
other foster and grand children. “My mother always welcomed friends and
guests with fresh brewing Folger's coffee, hot Mexican food and spicy salsa with
freshly made flour tortillas,” says Victoria.
“I had been
renting this home built in 1928, to several college students as I planned to
open it as a vacation rental to the general public and the families
discovering Brazos County and A&M University,” says Victoria, “the community
and my family have inspired me to make this happen.” “We have been working
with the local Chamber, our family and friends, historic organizations, the
Aggie Network, and George Bush Presidential Museum and Library to leverage this
experience.” “We were surprised when Mr. Lupe Fraga, member of the Texas
A&M Board of Regents stopped by to pay us a visit as we were preparing to receive
our furniture,” said Andy Valadez, President of Houston-based Marketing
Dynamics. “Mr. Fraga told us he was going to be our biggest supporter,”
said Mr. Valadez, (her son and graduate of A&M in 1993), “that is Aggie
support in action.”
Vacation rentals offer a way for families
and friends to
share the expense of lodging, while maintaining the experience of home.
Most rentals have all of the kitchen amenities, laundry facilities, are
fully furnished and decorated to match the style of the home.
"Casita de
Cruzita is truly a unique experience for families visiting our county,”
says Victoria “I think my mother would have been proud.”
